IKEA

We met Barrett and Linsey at IKEA today for a little adventure/shopping. I haven't been there in four years or so. Carlos HATES IKEA with a passion, so we avoid it at all costs. So I decided to brave it by myself with the kids with Linsey's help. It was a fun adventure for Landon because he was able to play with all of the toys. It is so hard to resist all these fun toys when they are SO CHEAP. Two of the big things that we bought were the tent ($9.99) - which Landon LOVES! He literally takes his afternoon nap in the tent everyday. We also purchased this fun rug/playmat ($14.99) for his room with a little town on it - roads, bridges, houses, stores, etc.

Tatum is Three Months Old

Today you are three months old. This is what you have been up to:
  • You are sleeping through the night (in your swing).
  • After the purchasing every binky known to man - you finally found one that you like - NAM.
  • You love the pink blanket that Mimi crocheted you and love to rub your face into it. It is really comforting to you.
  • You are sitting up in your Bumbo really well and will play with the toys that I put on your tray.
  • You have big smiles for your Daddy when he comes home.
  • You are still taking Zantac to help you with the acid reflux but you seem to be growing out of your colic.
  • You love to watch your brother while he plays.
  • We have you on a three hour "baby wise" schedule and we are always amazed at how at exactly three hours your eyes pop open to eat.
  • You have started to giggle but you will only give us a couple of giggles at a time. You make us work really hard for those giggles.
  • You still have hair but it has really thinned out from when you were first born.

Happy Three Months Princess!

Boys will be Boys

It is so funny to me how innately Landon is a boy! How do they instantly fall in love with trucks, fire engines, construction equipment, etc. ? It has been a lot of fun to watch Landon's imagination grow. This video is a little bit longer, but it is so funny. He gets this high pitched voice when he is replaying the characters talking. So you definitely know when he is talking and when his "friends" are talking.

Beach Time

We feel pretty lucky to live only 10 minutes from the beach. So, when the sun comes out and it happens to be over 60 degrees in San Francisco, we head to the beach. As you can see from our hats and my hair, it still was a very windy day. Tatum wasn't really feeling the beach that day so we ended up having to leave early and that did not make Mister Man very happy. He was perfectly content building castles and moats.

Facebook

It is funny how facebook can reconnect you with old friends and keep you up to date on what is going on in your friends' lives. The bad part about that is that you can feel that you have been keeping in touch with your friends, even though you really haven't. You just have been able to take a sneak peek into their lives through their updates and pictures. I was able to reconnect with my friend Melinda from high school. It had been 17 years (okay...I almost fainted writing that on my blog) since we had gone to high school together. We found out that we were due days apart with little girls. It was fun to go through the pregnancy together and compare notes. We both had to have scheduled c-sections too, so we both knew what each other was feeling like during the recovery period. We finally were able to meet up at Corte Madera to introduce our two sweet little girls to each other. It was great to see you Melinda and Carolyn is precious!

Ready, Set, GO!

Landon went to his first preschool class today. Carlos and I were both able to go with him. It is an eight week program which gives toddlers an opportunity to experience preschool - playtime, circle time, snack time and art time. The parents are with the children for the first hour and then the last half hour the parents go into another room and talk while the children play on their own. They are allowed to come into the room to check on us but they can not bring any toys into that room. The point is for them to want to play in the other room and be independent. Landon really enjoyed himself and his favorite part was art time. Of course he didn't eat anything at snack time. Little bugger!

Academy of Sciences with Barrett & Linsey

We met Barrett and Linsey at the Academy of Sciences today. It was Barrett's first trip to the museum. We had a lot of fun watching the penguins and playing in the tot room. It was my first time on my own with the two of them using the Phil and Ted stroller with Landon in the front and Tatum in the bassinet. In general, I am an indecisive person. So I have a hard time when it comes to picking which stroller to take out with me. I am the owner of MULTIPLE strollers and it is hard to guess which stroller is going to be the best for our little adventures. If Tatum is in her car seat asleep, it is hard to transfer her to the bassinet. But if I put her in the Foray with the car seat then I have to trust the Landon is going to hold my hand and not get tired. So I was pretty excited when I transferred her to the bassinet and she didn't freak out!

Today we went to the Japanese Tea Gardens in Golden Gate Park and had a picnic with Mimi.

Kite Festival

We went to check out the Kite Festival at Crissy Field. Landon's favorite kite was the scuba diver being chased by the shark!

Aidan and Kim

Aidan and Kim have been great to come over and visit us at our house. Everyone praised me in the beginning for getting out of the house with two kids. But lately I seem to have reverted to being "afraid" to leave the house with both of them. It is REALLY hard to know what type of mood Tatum is going to be in. So it is nice when Kim calls and wants to come over for a visit. That way I have all Tatum's comforts here at the house aka THE SWING!

Hanging Out

Gymnastics with Dad

SF Gymnastics has a 9:00am class on Saturdays that we like to do with Landon. 9:00am used to not be a problem before Tatum arrived. Then with the lack of sleep we were getting during the night, it made it really hard to get everyone dressed and out of the house to make it there by 9:00am. So this Saturday, Carlos let Tatum and I sleep in and he took Landon to the gymnastics class. Landon loves running around on the trampolines and climbing all over the equipment. Of course he had to make a stop in the toy area since he has NO toys at home!

K-Cup Anyone

We finally bought a Keurig coffee brewer so I could make coffee while I was on maternity leave and save money by not buying my $3 latte everyday. I have set up my own personal coffee bar with Torani syrups, flavored k-cups, a milk frother and I even have to go cups to make me feel like I bought it at Peets! What I didn't know was what the other benefits there were to the k-cups!

Bumbo

Tatum likes to sit in her Bumbo and guess who else does too! That's right...my little skinny guy can still fit in the Bumbo.

Swimming at Barrett's House

It was so hot today that we headed over to Linsey's house to visit Barrett and to go swimming. It was the first time that Tatum wore a bathing suit and I think she wore it rather well!

Capitola - The Rose Cottage

We had a great five day getaway in Capitola over Labor Day weekend. We were lucky to find the cutest cottage - The Rose Cottage - in downtown Capitola just a couple days prior to the trip. It was great for us to get away without having to go too far. We stuffed the car full of baby stuff, babies and us and headed down Highway 1. We stopped at Sam's Chowder House in Half Moon Bay on the way down. They have the best lobster roll and a fabulous view of the bay. It was nice just to have family time and not really have any plans. Living in San Francisco, we have a backyard, but barely use it. So it was nice to wake up in the morning and go sit on the deck behind the cottage and enjoy our morning coffee while Landon ran around. I was able to finish "The Time Traveller's Wife" and catch up on some blogging (not that it did me enough good since I am still so behind). The funniest part of the trip was that Keely (my good friend, Jenny's sister) was in Capitola for the weekend too and their cottage was literally a couple of houses away. So, Keely was able to meet Tatum. It was great for Landon to have all of that "Daddy" time with Carlos too. He loved it! The only issue we had was trying to get him to go to sleep. We ended up having to pull the mattress off of the bed in the guest room and barricade Landon into the room with two chairs since we didn't bring the gate. We will definitely be going back to The Rose Cottage!
