- Starting to be awake more and paying attention to her surroundings.
- Making more noises - mostly still grunting.
- Amazing her brother - he is still obsessed with trying to kiss her and wave her arm to say, "Hi Landon".
- Finding comfort in her swing.
- Taking baby zantac to help with her acid reflux.
- The colic episodes have moved from 2-5am to random times throughout the day - but we are happy to have them gone from 2-5am!
- Starting to work on taking the binky!

How can I be 35 YEARS OLD???
I can't believe that I am 35 years old today! How is it possible? I was just 18 and then 28 and now 35! Which is just a slippery slope away from 40. But I have to say that I am so lucky to be where I am in my life. I have an amazing husband and two precious babies that are so special to me. We went to Sausalito with the bambinos during the day and then Carlos took me to Spruce for dinner. First dinner out without the bambinos. Here's to the second half of my 30's! Sunday, July 26, 2009
BBQ with the Parental Units
We took Carlos' parents up to my parent's house for a BBQ on Sunday. Landon's older cousins were there and he had so much fun with them. He is enamoured with older kids and loves to follow them around. I think they have a fun time with him too. It was the first time my brother, Greg, got to meet Tatum.

Lunch with Magnus & Owen
Our friends moved to Marin from San Francisco recently and they invited us to come over for a playdate to enjoy the sunshine since it has been so foggy recently. Now, I am the biggest fan of San Francisco and always talk about how I would love to make it work and stay in the city past the time for Landon to start kindergarten. But that would mean he would have to go to private school and we would need to upgrade our current house to one that would probably cost 1.5 to 2 million dollars! SO...don't think that is going to happen anytime soon, so we will probably end up in Marin. Marin has a good school system where you are not put into a lottery system (San Francisco's current system). So the kids are able to go to school in the actual neighborhood that they live in. But visiting Katie's house definitely put me on a path to move to Marin faster than I thought. It has been so foggy it was so nice to escape into the sunshine and soak up the sun. We ate lunch out on their gorgeous deck and the boys played in the yard. I might be able to give up city life for some nice weather and more space. We will see what happens - I still think SF is such a cool place to live and would be fun to raise kids here.

Brotherly Love
Landon LOVES his baby sister! He is constantly saying, "I hold Tatum." Of course, I have to be holding onto to her at the same time because as much as he wants to hold her in a couple of seconds or minutes he will decide he is done holding her and will just want to walk away. Of course this all makes for some very cute photo opportunities. Landon also likes to have Tatum lay in his big boy bed and he likes to get into her crib. I started snapping away like a crazy woman and now whenever he is with her he tells me, "Mommy take a picture!".
Happy Birthday Theo!
I took my first adventure out today with both kids by myself. We went to Landon's share care buddy, Theo's birthday party. They were so excited to see each other because it had been over three weeks since they had seen each other. They gave each other a big hug. It was my first realization on how long it takes to pack the diaper bag and load the kids into the car. Plus I had to push Tatum in the stroller and have Landon walk with me while holding my hand. He did a great job! Landon also was a really good big brother and let me know that Tatum was crying in her car seat when I was in the backyard. Happy 2nd Birthday Theo!!

Betrothed

We went out to Jeff and Linsey's house on Sunday to visit Baby Barrett since Carlos had not met him yet. CC and Justin stopped by to meet Barrett too and they were able to meet Miss Tatum as well. CC and Justin are expecting a little boy in November. We can't wait to meet him! We couldn't resist taking Barrett and Tatum's first pictures together. Linsey and I have already betrothed them to each other and have truly been enjoying being on maternity leave together at the same time.

Fort Time
Big boy bedding makes GREAT FORTS! I purchased Landon's big boy bedding from Target from a recommendation from another mommy blogger. It was such a deal for $34.99. Landon is currently obessessed with trucks, construction vehicles and anything that provides transportation. So this was a great fit for him. He is finally starting to sleep underneath of the comforter and I might add the top sheet into the bed pretty soon. Toddler comforters also provide a great fort to play in! Another side note is that Tatum loves Landon's bedding. It is so busy and has a lot of colors and shapes. When we set her in Landon's bed she stares at the pillow and talks to it! So cute!

Friends and Family
We are so lucky to have such wonderful family and friends around us. We have had so many friends come by to visit Tatum and Landon and bring us dinner or a treat. We really appreciate it and it has been so nice not to have to worry about what to cook for dinner while trying to figure out how to handle two kids (one colicky and the other entering the terrible two phase) and recovering from a c-section. Thank you to all of our family and friends for your love and support. Kim, Aidan, Alexis and Owen all came by on Friday to meet Tatum and give Landon a little play time with friends. The firefighter hat was a gift for Landon from Owen. As you can tell he was pretty excited to get a gift!
The Perfect Binky
Landon took to his binky (aka pacifier) immediately when we got home from the hospital and it was smooth sailing for his first year. So, of course I assumed it would be the same with Tatum. But as I should have learned from the fact that Tatum has colic and Landon didn't that no two babies are the same. I think I have bought every type of binky that is made in the pursuit of finding a binky that is acceptable to my princess. We have gone through a lot of different ones but I think she has finally settled in with the Avent binky (which is what Landon used...okay fine...still uses). It still pops out of her mouth A LOT but she eventually gets the hang of it and keeps it in there. Even though I need her to LOVE her binky because it makes life so much easier when they are having mini meltdowns, I know realize that it is really hard to TAKE AWAY the binky. Which is a process we are trying to work on with Landon (now 2.5 years old). He only uses the binky in the privacy of his own room but is constantly trying to escape his room with it in his mouth and would walk around 24/7 with it if he could. I know I need to ween him off of it, but right now while dealing with his new sister, it is hard to introduce too much change in his life. Plus....it would make my life a lot harder to try to deal with the colic phases and the binky withdrawals!
Catching Up!!
I am still so behind with my posts that I figured I would post more up to date pictures and thoughts and then go retro with pictures to get current. I don't want to let all of these little moments that are happening now, slip away from my memory! With the lack of sleep I have been getting...those moments will be forgotten!

Bathtime with Bonzo
I can't tell you how much Landon loves bath time! He could play in there for hours if we let him. I used to be in charge of his baths, but when I got pregnant with Tatum it became increasingly harder for me to bend over our deep tub and Carlos stepped in. Now, fortunately for me, it has become part of their routine! It is some really good bonding time for them and then Daddy is the bad guy that makes him get out of the tub.
Welcome Baby Barrett
Sweet Baby Boy Barrett has arrived! Tatum and I rushed over (my first trip by myself since having Tatum - I was kind of on house arrest with the c-section). Linsey's water broke around 11:30 and of course that was the first night I decided to go to bed at 11:25. Linsey had text me to ask me a question about her water breaking and I had turned my phone off. So I received her text at 2:30am when I woke up to feed Tatum. I couldn't believe that I had missed her text. Of course, I was so excited that I had a hard time going back to sleep. We made it to the hospital 10 minutes before he was born! The only problem is that Tatum wasn't allowed in the delivery room or the post partum room. So, Jeff had to go stay with Tatum in the waiting room, so I could sneak in to meet Mr. Barrett. He is adorable and I have never seen Linsey and Jeff happier! Little does Tatum or Barrett know - but Linsey and I have already betrothed them to each other.
